Do you ever check your work email account at night, over the weekend or even while on vacation? It’s become a habit for many of us – especially because smartphones make it so easy.
But in France, sending work-related emails after business hours is now illegal, according to the Huffington Post.

France: No more after-hours work email
The BBC reports that companies with 50 employees or more will have to designate hours when staff cannot send or answer emails, giving them a “right to disconnect.”
The change is part of a controversial labor law, which has led to protests over separate issues.
There does seem to be widespread support for the email rule, which officials say is about preventing employees from burnout.

Here in America, it’s hard to imagine this type of law ever being passed.
In fact, according to a survey of American workers, 87% of them admitted to looking at work-related emails after leaving the office.
And Fortune reports that younger workers and men are more likely to stay connected.
Stop email overload
If you seem to have trouble unplugging after work, maybe it’s time to take a closer look at whether it’s affecting your personal relationships.
If so, set some boundaries about checking your email after work, especially if you don’t have to.
