Many of money expert Clark Howard’s fans are already saving up to 50% on groceries after making the switch to Aldi, a no-frills food chain with nearly 2,000 stores across the United States.

Those shoppers know that most of the items sold at Aldi are private label, which keeps prices so low.

4 apps to save even more money at Aldi

Although you’ll find some brand name products at Aldi, bargain hunters may be disappointed to learn that the discount grocer won’t accept a manufacturer’s coupon for those things.

However, there are ways to maximize your savings using popular cash back grocery apps.

If you’re not familiar, there are quite a few apps available for download on Google Play or the App Store that will reward you for buying various items and uploading a receipt using your smartphone.

Here are four apps that will give you cash back or gift cards for your Aldi receipts…

1. Ibotta

Ibotta is considered by many shoppers to be the best grocery rebate app. When I first joined in 2014, it worked at many traditional supermarkets, but not discount stores like Aldi.

Now, Aldi is one of the 300+ retailers where the Ibotta app is enabled. See the full list here!

Like most cash back apps, Ibotta primarily features products from national brands. But even if you buy only private label items from Aldi, you’ll be able to take advantage of “Any Item” rebates.

These rebates usually earn you 25 cents cash back for uploading a receipt. You can withdraw cash when you reach $20.

2. Checkout 51

Checkout 51 updates with a new list of offers every Thursday morning. You simply select your grocery store and see what’s available that week — from fresh foods to pantry staples.

When your balance reaches $20, request your cash back to be delivered via PayPal or have a check sent in the mail.

3. Fetch Rewards

Fetch Rewards is an app that I started using in January 2018. Here’s how it works: Scan your receipt from any grocery store and you’ll receive points based on the brands and products you buy.

The “Special Offers” tab lists the most valuable deals, but I usually earn a minimum of 25 points per receipt without those offers.

When you reach 3,000 points, you can redeem them for gift cards to dozens of major retailers like Amazon, Target, Walmart, Home Depot, Petco and many more.

4. Receipt Hog

The fourth and final app that I want to tell you about is called Receipt Hog, which is a little bit different from the others.

By uploading receipts from any store, you earn coins, spins and sweepstakes entries. Once you’ve collected enough coins, you can redeem them for a PayPal credit, an Amazon gift card or a magazine subscription.

I’ve only redeemed $20 worth of rewards with this app, but I continue to use it because uploading a receipt only takes a few seconds.

Don’t forget about credit card rewards!

In addition to downloading these and other apps, Aldi accepts credit cards, so you may want to use a card that gives you some cash back for grocery purchases. Here are the best rewards credit cards!
