Talk about piling on…

In December 2016, T-Mobile announced it would give AT&T customers one free year of DirecTV Now when they activated two lines and brought their number to T-Mobile ONE.

Now they’re getting ready to sweeten the pot again for those customers who took them up on that offer!

T-Mobile offers AT&T refugees a free year of Hulu — in addition to the free year of DirecTV Now they’re already getting!

Back in late 2016, DirecTV Now launched with a lot of ballyhoo thanks to an amazing initial price point — $35 a month for 100+ channels.

But customers of AT&T’s new streaming service quickly became disenchanted thanks to a lot of technical snafus that made it hard to watch the service. They’re especially upset if they got in after the introductory offer ended and are now paying $60 for those same channels!

Even Clark himself — ever the optimist and always an ardent early adopter of new technologies — had to concede that the reality of DirecTV Now was not as great as the initial hype made it sound.

“It’s not quite there,” the consumer champ has said. “The picture is choppy, a lot of times it’s a fuzzy picture, and there’s no DVR with it.”

Rubbing salt in AT&T’s wounds

Now T-Mobile‘s latest offer really rubs salt in AT&T’s wounds because it plays into the second wave of buzz about how bad DirecTV Now actually is.

T-Mobile is offering those same AT&T refugees who left Ma Bell for the Un-carrier a free year of Hulu in addition to the year of DirecTV Now they’re already enjoying — or not enjoying, as the case may be!

Hulu’s basic service costs $8 a month, so that’s a savings of almost $100 this year for eligible customers.

If you are eligibile, look for a notification from T-Mobile in the coming weeks with a unique code good for your free year of Hulu Limited Commercials service.

“It turns out DirecTV Now is barely watchable, but we’ve got our customers’ backs! So, every former AT&T customer who took us up on our offer now gets a free year of Hulu on us ‘ and they get to enjoy it on a faster, more advanced network with unlimited data!” John Legere, president and CEO of T-Mobile, said in a press release. “Even I can’t believe AT&T spent $67 billion on DirecTV and still couldn’t roll out a streaming service that worked!”

Clearly, the battle of the wireless carriers rages on and it’s getting ugly for them — but great for you and your wallet!
