We’re not even one full day into the build of the Habitat house I’m sponsoring in Joplin, and I’ve already firmed up plans to return next year to do it all over again with the help of some new friends!

I never ceased to be amazed by all the great volunteers who have helped out in Joplin from the moment the cleanup began last year. Some 130,000 people from all across our great land have come for days, weeks or months at a time to help rebuild the tornado-ravaged town.

In fact, we have North Carolina listeners from Charity Baptist Church (located in Kannapolis, near Charlotte) who will be here all week long working on the house that I’m sponsoring. The youth minister told me that the kids at the church raised $18,000 for Joplin by themselves during the past year. They did it through bake sales, car washes, donating their allowance and some of the teens that worked donated a tithe of their pay.

Today I’m proud to announce that Charity Baptist Church will be back one year from now to co-sponsor another house with me. The adults members of the congregation have the rest of this year to come up another nearly $20,000 and I’ll put up $35,000. Together, we’ll meet the $70,000 sponsor fee for a Habitat home and then we’ll build it together in 2013!
