Heads up if you have frozen vegetables in your freezer!
Alimentos Congelados, S.A. (Pinula) is voluntarily recalling 1,800 cases of frozen broccoli cuts that could potentially be contaminated with listeria, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
The recalled product
According to the FDA, the frozen broccoli cuts were distributed to stores in these 11 states: Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, Florida, Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina and North Carolina.
The affected bags were distributed under the following label and code:
- WYLWOOD Fresh Frozen Broccoli Cuts, NET WT. 16 oz, UPC 5193300110, with bag code: A25335P and A15335P.
According to the FDA, listeria ‘can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.’
No illnesses have been connected to the recalled product. Any customers who bought this product should throw it away and call 1-800-888-4646 for a refund and any questions. ​
