What you need to know about the ABS actuator recall

The following three models are involved in the recall:

  • 2016-2017 Maxima sedans
  • 2015-2017 Murano SUVs
  • 2015-2016 Murano Hybrid SUVs

Nissan has determined that the Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) actuator is the culprit in the leak. If a leak occurs in vehicles affected by this recall, your ABS light will come on and remain permanently lit up on your instrument panel.

If ignored, the leak may create an electrical short, and in some rare instances, could lead to a fire.

So if you notice your ABS light is lit continually for more than 10 seconds, pull over and call Nissan Roadside Assistance at 1-800-647-7261 (option 1) to arrange towing your vehicle to a Nissan dealer at no cost to you.

No injuries have been reported resulting from the potential defect. However, Nissan did receive several reports of ‘thermal damage’ to vehicles that may include fires.
