Denny’s: Our new pancakes might be better than yours

The chain has been forced to up its game amid competition from IHOP and McDonald’s, which has successfully expanded breakfast to all day.

“Our old pancakes were fine, but America deserved better,” Denny’s says on its website

What’s the difference with the new pancakes? First, traditional powdered mix is out. The new recipe includes real eggs, fresh buttermilk and a hint of vanilla – hand-mixed to order.

The result is a pancake that’s 50% fluffier, according to the company.

“Pancakes are a staple of Denny’s all–day breakfast culture and while our guests told us our former pancakes were good, we knew we could do better than good,’ said John Dillon, chief marketing officer for Denny’s.

Not only are the pancakes improved, Denny’s says they might be better than what the best cook in your family makes at home!

Early reviews are positive. “Denny’s new buttermilk pancake recipe seems to be a step towards revitalizing the brand,” according to a review on FoodBeast.com.

You can order pancakes as part of Denny’s popular Grand Slam breakfast, and the restaurant’s website also advertises $4 all-you-can-eat pancakes at participating locations. Three pancakes cost about $5 at IHOP.
