Don’t forget about this older recall

Gree first announced in late 2013 its recall of dehumidifiers made for popular brands like Frigidaire, Soleus Air, Kenmore and others. Then in early 2014, the recall was expanded.

Now, after 450 fires and $19 million in property damage, the company is reissuing its original recall via the Consumer Product Safety Commission.

The move comes after last month’s recall of some 3.4 million dehumidifiers by competitor GD Midea Air Conditioning Equipment Ltd. of China’s.

Remember, the two simplest ways to safeguard yourself and your home from fire damage are to have working smoke alarms and to have integrated smoke and fire detection in your home alarm system.

And if you think you can’t afford a smoke detector, think again. Call a fire station and ask for a referral to an organization that’s giving away smoke detectors. Don’t let money force you to put your family into an unsafe situation!
