Can’t wait for Black Friday or Cyber Monday to score deals on your holiday shopping? No worries, there are some insane deals coming from a source most American consumers aren’t familiar with about a week from now!

Enter the dragon (aka Alibaba)

If you lived in China, you’d be familiar with an e-commerce website called Alibaba.

A multi-headed beast with business-to-consumer, business-to-business and consumer-to-consumer segments, Alibaba is a dominant player in the Asian nation’s online marketplace. It’s part Amazon, part eBay and all about the deals!

In recent years, Alibaba has put all its weight behind something called Singles’ Day on November 11.

Singles’ Day is like an anti-Valentine’s Day crossed with Black Friday. It started as a celebration of bachelorhood among young men…because 11/11 is comprised entirely of the loneliest number of all—one.

But the day has since spread to men and women alike and been commercialized by Alibaba, which also calls the day by another name—Global Sourcing Festival.

Regardless of its origin and what it’s called, the key thing for you to know is that Alibaba cranks out some jaw-dropping low prices on a wide range of consumer goods on this day.

Here’s just a sample of what’s in store…with free shipping and a minimum quantity order of just one item!

A few caveats to note if you’re thinking about ordering:

  • Pay attention to minimum quantity orders. The deals we’ve spotlighted here don’t require you to order more than just one of the item to get the deal. But it’s not uncommon to have to order a minimum of 10 pieces.
  • Allow at least six weeks for delivery because your stuff is coming from China. This is definitely not for the Amazon Prime crowd that expects to get what they ordered in two days!
  • Be careful with the sizing of garments. The Chinese sizing scale is very different from the one we’re used to over here! What appears to be a normal size may be tiny on you.
  • Alibaba is supposed to be for wholesale, but it is possible to order as an individual. If you see something you like, just be sure to email the seller first before going through with the transaction.
